Aluminum sulfate is an inorganic substance, the chemical formula is Al2(SO4)3, the formula amount is 342.15, and the white orthorhombic crystalline crystalline powder, density is 1.181g/cm3 (25 °C). In the paper industry, it is used as a precipitant for rosin gum, wax emulsion, and other rubber materials, as a flocculant in water treatment, and can also be used as an internal retention agent for foam fire extinguishers, raw materials for the manufacture of alum and aluminum white, petroleum decolorization, deodorant, and raw materials for some drugs.

According to statistics, the first largest use of aluminum sulfate is in papermaking, accounting for about 50% of the total output, and the second largest use is as a flocculant in drinking water, industrial water, and industrial wastewater treatment, accounting for about 40% of the total output of aluminum sulfate. A large amount of oxidation occurs in sewage due to the presence of bacteria, and a large amount of phosphate is produced. These phosphates are a source of sewage pollution. Therefore, it is very important to control the oxidation reaction and effectively remove phosphate during wastewater treatment.

The role of aluminium sulphate in wastewater treatment
1. Aluminum sulfate can well treat the microbial oxidation reaction of sewage and eliminate the influence of microorganisms.
2. Aluminum sulfate can well control the phosphate formed by the oxidation reaction of microorganisms.
In general, aluminum sulfate can destroy and decompose sewage sources in sewage treatment on the one hand, effectively control the growth of existing pollution on the other hand, and has a significant effect in road sewage treatment.
