PAC represents the development direction of modern papermaking sizing aids, especially suitable for production lines using neutral or alkaline papermaking processes (such as AKD/ASA combined with calcium carbonate).
It can work efficiently in a wider pH range, improve paper performance and durability, reduce equipment corrosion, and facilitate environmental protection and white water circulation. Aluminum sulfate, as a more traditional aid, is mainly applied in acidic sizing systems.
Its main advantage lies in the lower unit price, but it has disadvantages such as severe corrosion to paper machines, poor paper durability, limited filler selection, and adverse effects on white water circulation.
The choice of which aid to use depends on the paper machine's process conditions, product requirements, and comprehensive economic and technical evaluation.
